Maple is a 6 year old female Shar-Pei. “I came into rescue as an unclaimed stray – bred from and presumed dumped.
I had a chronic skin issue upon arrival, and sore ears…but this has now been treated and I look and feel so much better.
I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. I cannot live with cats or small furries. I have met other dogs and could potentially live with a calm male of a similar size, or as an only dog.
I can live with older, dog-savvy children (teenagers). I recently went to short-term foster so I could be assessed in a home – and here is what my foster mum says about me! Having Maple as a house guest has been an absolute pleasure. ” – Quote.
Maple was a little unsettled for the first few hours when she arrived – which is not unusual for a new dog.
Maple loves her home comforts, and it did not take her long to find her nice bed and sofa! Other than one wee on day one, she’s been completely clean in the house.
Maple seems used to noises such as lawnmowers and washing machines and pays no attention to them. She will chase birds in the garden and cats are an absolute no! If she sees one on a walk (or a squirrel), she will become fixated on it and try to pull towards them.
Maple’s learning to not pull on the lead and is improving, but her new owner will need to be physically fit. She is being walked for around 30 minutes twice a day and then is happy to chill out at home – but her walking times could be increased.
Maple does not pay much attention to other dogs on a walk, even ignoring 3 chihuahuas who were barking at her. She loves her toys and a snuffle mat and loves her treats. She has not been fussy about her food.
Maple is fine to be left for a few hours a day and is not barking or destructive. She travels well in the car and is a good girl at the vet! She is the sweetest girl who is becoming more affectionate by the day.
Maple is the perfect, easy house guest, and someone will be incredibly lucky to adopt this beautiful girl.
