2 year old male Podenco Andaluz Cross available for adoption

Tico is a 2 year old male Podenco Andaluz Cross. He is a short and shiny black coat, with a white chest and four white paws. He is of medium size.

Podencos are frequently abused and abandoned when hunting season is finished, and poor Tico was found tied to a chain in the middle of nowhere, just skin and bones.

The little lad was scared, and he had been abandoned by the hunter who would no longer need him.

Once we cut the chain to release him, he immediately trusted us, and he allowed us to pick him up. Despite so terrible an experience, Tico is a very nice, gentle and affectionate boy, just a little bit timid at the beginning with new people he doesn’t know, but in a very short time, he gains trust.

He learned to walk fine on a lead and enjoys his walks but as he hasn’t got recall he needs to remain on the lead until he has bonded with his new owners, and is trained in commands. He likes other dogs and cats.

Tico is very good in the car and visiting the vet. He is a young and healthy boy, and he needs daily exercise, he loves to walk and run, of course in a safe enclosed area. A family with an active lifestyle who enjoys walking or a large garden would be the best home for him.

He loves to play, so a family with another dog would be perfect!! and we think he will like living with children for over 10 years. Tico is super bright and intelligent, very affectionate and extremely loyal to his family.

Tico respond well to positive reinforcement training, like little treats or caresses. He is very gentle, and friendly with dogs and cats, despite his hunting instinct. Tico is very obedient and loves to please his owner.

He is currently located in a foster home in Spain and can travel to the UK once she has a home to go to. The Adoption Fee: £365 – to be paid directly to the Spanish rescue to cover new, excessive, extra EU travel costs, via a UK bank account.

All our adoptions are subject to successful home checks. There is now a deposit for all home checks £25 which is deducted from the adoption fee. If the home check fails the £25 will be reimbursed. If people withdraw after the home check this is non-refundable.
