4 month old male Hound Cross available for adoption

Sami is a 4 month old male Hound Cross. He is the sweetest little soul. He was rescued by tourists who were travelling to Sarajevo in Bosnia, hopping about besides the road. Upon inspection, they realised that Sami’s front paw was missing, and the vet believes that this is human inflicted and that someone cut it off. He’s utterly adorable in every way and despite his terrible treatment, he is very friendly, trusting and affectionate towards humans.

He loves to be held and cuddled, and his tail is always wagging. He’s a very happy little boy and he doesn’t let his missing foot hold him back. He has learnt to walk on the lead and loves playing out in the grass and with his toys like all the other puppies. He is friendly with other dogs and doesn’t have a clue that he’s a little bit different to them. From a practical perspective, the fact that Sami has a missing foot means he will in time bear his weight differently from that of a four-legged dog.

His could cause him some arthritis in much later life, and to deter this he may benefit from some hydrotherapy. Right now, the vet hasn’t suggested a care plan for Sami, but it’s something that adopters should be open to considering, as well as being aware of the associated costs. No surgery has been recommended to us for Sami.

Aside from his physical differences, Sami is a typical pup. He loves being outside, loves exploring, and is very playful, cheeky and inquisitive. He is great with people and loves being in their company, but also socialises very well with other dogs too. Sami has had some initial exposure to cats and has been gentle with them, but as he is a hound mix he might not be the best match for a home with resident felines unless his adopters have experience.

He would be best suited to a semi-rural home with a grassy garden (this would be better for his paw than patio), a patient home able to give him a little extra time to get his bearings, and away from busy roads. He can live with other dogs and is friendly with children too (recommended 5+).

The volunteers are utterly in love with Sami, and we all hope we can find him the very best forever home where he will be treated with the kindness he deserves. Sami is currently based in Bosnia and has a clean bill of health. He will be travelling to the UK at the back end of November as long as he has a home to go.
